ABOUT SHIKHAR
Shikhar is a voluntary organization created solely with the purpose of helping the cause of mentally challenged. Shikhar is recognized by Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt. of India, Department of Social Welfare; Govt. of Rajasthan, and is registered with the National Trust.
Shikhar, started on 21st June, 2002 with the encouragement of parents and well wishers, is aimed at helping the Mentally Challenged children with a strong commitment and empathy. We strongly feel that the disabled are not victims of fate, but of our own negligence. The sole aim of the institute is to strive for the welfare of the persons with Mental Retardation, Autism & Multiple disabilities.
We had a very humble beginning with just 2 children. Till Today, the institute has lovingly served more than 250 differently abled persons.
At Shikhar, we give students the tools to develop and improve their skills in various fields and programs. Our courses are comprehensive but flexible, allowing each student to reach their full potential at their own pace. Take a look at our programs below to learn more.

"During my education & the time when I was a teacher, many a times I came across some special children, who used to go in the normal schools. But in those schools these children were treated indifferently and teachers couldn't pay special attention to them as required.
I used to think there must be some special school dedicated to these children where they can be treated and trained in a special way, keeping their needs & abilities in mind.
Getting inspired with this thought and with the aim of serving these special children I started learning about special education and completed my Diploma in Special Education from the National Institute of Mentally Handicapped, Secunderabad in 1996.
With all the support and encouragement of my family, friends and well wishers, I started Shikhar Society in the year 2002. Today the Shikhar family has covered a long journey of 20 years and has surveyed more than 1200 special kids & served over 250 Mentally Retarded, Cerebral Palsied, Autistic and Multiple Disabled persons with special education, vocational training, physiotherapy, speech therapy, etc. according to their needs."
